Tania Przywara is a New York City-based classical pianist and composer who has been playing professionally in diverse settings since 2012. Her repertoire ranges from Baroque to Contemporary, with an emphasis on music of Romantic composers and original works.
Beginning piano studies at age four, Przywara, a West Coast native, moved with her family from Southern Oregon to New York City in 2000 to take advantage of the city’s performing arts opportunities. There, she studied piano and composition at the Lucy Moses School and piano and orchestration at Manhattan School of Music, with teachers including Phillip Kawin and Susan Botti. She later studied with Dylan Savage at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she graduated summa cum laude in 2016 with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance. Przywara has been involved in several chamber music ensembles and previously appeared in a world premiere ensemble performance in New York City's Merkin Concert Hall. As a soloist, she has won awards for her playing from the Luzerne Music Center and was the recipient of the Charlotte Music Club Scholarship in 2015.
Beyond performance, Przywara's passions include improvising and composing music, particularly for the piano. She enjoys diverse artistic collaborations as well as solo multimedia projects in which her talents for photography and poetry entwine with her musical compositions. Professional musical engagements of hers have included creative musical storytelling as a ballet accompanist for young children, as well as teaching private, custom-tailored piano lessons.
Recently, on August 23, 2024, Przywara was honored to collaborate with niche record label Leesta Vall Sound Recordings in Brooklyn, New York to record select original piano works live direct-to-vinyl as exclusive 7 inch record singles. More information on this recent project can be found here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/direct-to-vinyl-107572528.
As of now, Przywara is occupied with various creative and musical pursuits, including preparing to record a collection of her original solo piano compositions for her first planned full-length studio album. Many written since 2019 and inspired by her own poems from the same period, these works, some performed recently on her live vinyl records, feature Przywara's self-described Neo-Romantic, quasi-cinematic compositional style.
